The Biggest Loser: Mattel Sinks 5.4%

Mattel (MAT) tumbled to the bottom of the S&P 500 today as the toy maker began giving back some of its Hasbro (HAS) takeover-rumor-inspired gained.

Mattel dropped 5.4% to $17.26 today, while the S&P 500 dipped 0.2% to 2642.22. Hasbro slipped 1.3% to $91.84.

Mattel, remember leaped to its biggest gain in more than 30 years on Nov. 13 on reports that Hasbro was considering a takeover. Mattel, however, is said to have turned down Hasbro on Nov. 15. Today was the first time Mattel closed below its Nov. 13 price.

Mattel’s market capitalization fell to $5.9 billion today from $6.3 billion yesterday. It reported net income of $317 million on sales of $5.5 billion in 2016.
